Sending SMS and MMS content to the USA and Canada

Carriers covered

We have good connectivity to all the major US and Canadian Network Operators including those listed here plus many smaller CDMA, GSM, iDEN, TDMA and Paging operators.

Because of Network Operator policies we are only able to deliver multimedia content to T-Mobile and some Cingular Blue customers - services like Verizon's Vcast service not withstanding.

Since December 2004 delivery of SMS, MMS and other content into the USA and the provision of MO services has become an extraordinarily painful process. Please talk to Connection Software staff directly for further details. Hopefully this will eventually be resolved but for now it is far more difficult to operate SMS services to and from the US than almost anywhere else in the world. The information given below is given in good faith but should be treated with caution.

Binary Messaging with GSM

You can send binary data (such as ringtones or graphics) without problems. You can use data from our ringtone and graphic libraries, upload your own data or construct GSM PDUs yourself.

Binary Messaging with TDMA

True binary messaging over TDMA is not supported. If you wish to send a binary data (such as ringtones or graphics) via a TDMA Network, such as AT&T, Cingular or Rogers ATT then binary content must be sent in SCKL format.

Binary Messaging with CDMA

True binary messaging over CDMA is not supported. If you wish to send a binary data (such as ringtones or graphics) via a CDMA Network, such as Verizon, Sprint, Alltel or U.S. Cellular then binary content must be sent in SCKL format.

MMS and WAP PUSH

Both MMS and WAP PUSH can be used to deliver multimedia content such as polyphonic ringtones, wallpaper, videos and Java applications. If we are unable to deliver binary content via an operator then it will not be possible to deliver MMS or WAP Push content. We are aware that this is unsatisfactory but there does not appear to be a solution for bulk traffic at present.
